Thank you for your question regarding a specific soap post breast surgery. I would recommend calling your surgeons office and asking him/her directly or a member of staff that can assist you. In my practice, I encourage patients to use a mild, gentle soap. Hope this helps!
Dear Cateye09,I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Usually, antibacterial soap like dial or ivory is best after surgery. Lymphatics are not drained by soaps but massage.
I am not aware of any kinds of soap that I prove the results after breast surgery. In general, we recommend very bland un scented soaps and lotions after surgery. Ask your surgeon what they think as that should be you go to source for these questions. Good luck with your surgery.
I usually recommend soap that does not have any additives that may irritate the skin. If that soap did not cause your skin any reaction before surgery it may be ok afterward but I prefer my patients to stick to CeraVe cleansing bar, Dove, or Dial.
