Bad Bonding. What are my options to make it look more evenly toned across? (Photo)

Question

I recently had to receive bonding due to baby teeth that finally had to be pulled. They had nothing behind them so my dentists suggested bonding. Although it's not a horrible job, I am unhappy with the yellow shading and the bulkiness of it. It is also shorter than my natural teeth which throws my bite off . They do not match my natural teeth and he also wouldn't replace the bonding on my natural teeth. What are my options to make it look more even toned across?

Yes you're young and smart. The shade doesn't match, it is bulky, and you are correct, it shouldn't look like that.You have great options. I am sorry that you went to someone who wasn't competent with their cosmetic  skills.I'd advise going to a new dentist. It is important to see photos of patients that the new dentist has done. Express your concerns, and listen to how the dentist answers you. Do they understand what you want? Do they have ideas as to how you can have a beautiful smile? My suggestions are porcelain veneers, if it is something you can afford or finance. They are a wonderful investment because they will last a long time, "grow with you", meaning that as you age, they become more real and lifelike.Bonding is another option, but the most important factor is the skill of the dentist who is doing it. You must see photos of bonding cases. As you have experienced, bonding done poorly is not pretty and not natural looking. Bonding requires more maintenance, and only lasts about 5-7 years until it needs touching up, repolishing, and then maybe a suggestion will be made again to consider veneers.Good cosmetic dentists are confident in doing bonding or veneers, and will help discuss your options. Do ask friends for recommendations, or even someone with very nice teeth, who they recommend in your area. On line reviews can be helpful as well. And visit a few offices, to get a handle on where you feel comfortable. I tell my patients to trust their own instincts. Do your research, and you will end up in exactly the right place!. Good luck.

Seek another cosmetic dentist's opinion.  It may be possible to remove some of the bonding and lighten and lengthen the teeth. Carefully review online comments for cosmetic dentists in your area...or better yet ask someone who has high regard for their dentist.
