What type of surgeon would be best to see for moderate to large ankle lipoma removal?

I saw an orthopedic surgeon that told me he would not remove them. I have Tarsal Tunnel, and I these lipomas are not helping. My feet are seriously unhappy! The stretching, massage, KT taping, and supportive shoes are just not enough. Not to mention I can't wear all of the shoes I love because it interferes with the lipomas. Suggestions?

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  For most patients driving can be resumed within a day or two of surgery, although you will feel sore.  Best to ask your surgeon the specifics of your case as they can offer you the best advice based on the procedure to be performed.

Lipomas are benign fatty tumors that occur under the skin and less commonly within the muscle. They are associated with mild discomfort and a lump underneath the skin. It is always best to talk to an expert plastic surgeon to determine whether the lipoma is possibly a cyst or a tumor or hernia....

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I would recommend seeing your surgeon for a follow up visit.  If this is a recurrence of a lipoma then a revision operation will be needed to remove the additional tissue.  If this is scar tissue, other treatments may suffice.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Lipomas do not grow overnight but the recent injury may have drawn enough attention to the area that you noticed its location. These can typically be removed with a small, in-office procedure.  Hope this helps.
