I have a large lower back tattoo in black in that I got about 18 yrs ago. Would it be possible to have it excised. Lasers don't seem to be working. It doesn't even have to be the entire tattoo. Just as much as possible so I can cover it up with something better.
Answer: Laser Tattoo Removal Thank you for your question in regards to laser tattoo removal. Unfortunately tattoo removal is a long, slow process requiring several treatments. Due to the location and size, excision is most likely not recommended. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Tattoo regret I understand that you are frustrated but trust me you do not want to cut that tattoo out. The best machine for tattoo removal is called the Picosure and you should find an office near you with this device. It is amazing. You will have the tattoo faded enough in 6-7 months to get a coverup. Good luck! DSR

Answer: Cutting Out Large Lower Back Tattoo? Don't Excise; Remove Tattoo With PicoWay Laser I would not recommend surgery for such a large tattoo – especially since it would respond very well to the PicoWay laser. It takes multiple laser treatments to remove a tattoo. Yours looks like it has begun to fade, so I am assuming you have already had several sessions. Unfortunately, older tattoos often take longer to remove because the pigment is deeply embedded in the layers of the epidermis. Yours would probably take 5 to 8 sessions at least. A board-certified dermatologist who has expert tattoo removal technique with PicoWay will be able to help you and can give you a more accurate timeline for when the tattoo will be gone once you are evaluated in person.

Answer: Excision vs laser tattoo removal although i do not perform excision i dont believe this is a suitable option based on the size, location and post op effects. From what i see the piece should do very well with a pico laser. Do you know what laser was used? a single color, black piece should have a good result after 6-8 treatments. Make sure you are going to an expert in tattoo removal and they are using the newest technology. Good luck
