Answer: Laser Hair Removal Facts--takes a series of treatments This can be improved with laser hair removal. Diode, alexandrite and yag lasers work best for hair removal. I typically have patients do every 4 weeks for the first 3 times and then every 4-6 weeks for 3 times after. It will take a series of treatments and some people need treatments to maintain. See an expert in laser hair removal for best results. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: How to prevent ingrown hairs You should have laser hair removal. Most hair removal lasers (I use the Light Sheer Duet- a diode laser) will not only remove hair but they treat ingrown hairs. Expect to be improved within the year.

Answer: Laser Hair Removal It sounds like Laser Hair Removal would be a great option for you. The laser sends specific, controlled pulses of light through the skin that are absorbed by the melanin (pigment) present in hair follicles. This energy is converted to heat, which then destroys the hair follicle (without harming the surrounding tissue) and significantly slows down their ability to re-grow hair. Since hair grows in cycles, the number of treatments varies by patient skin type, hair color, and hair coarseness. But it typically takes about 6 to 8 treatments, spaced every 4 to 8 weeks. Additionally, annual touch-ups may be required to keep you completely hair free.

Answer: Start with a $10 Razor Thanks for your question. I'm sorry that you are having this trouble. It sounds like you would be an excellent candidate for LHR. Unfortunately, you will need to shave between LHR treatments. Start with a quality razor and a shaving cream that doesn't irritate your skin. Each time you shave, try it in a different direction. Many times, you will find going a direction will make the ingrown hair better or worse. It will take a little trial and error to find what works for you. When considering Laser Hair Removal, seek out a laser vs. IPL to help avoid complications. Almost all newer lasers are safe for all skin types and have features built in (such as sapphire cooling tips) to make them more comfortable. Some of the newer technology is also more efficient, allowing for lower energy settings to be used with better results and less discomfort. With modern equipment, your treatment should only be mildly uncomfortable, but not painful. We never use numbing cream for LHR. We want our patients to be able to tell us if they feel pain or an unusual level of discomfort. We recommend finding an experienced and reputable provider in your area with updated equipment. A consistent overlapping technique is the key to avoiding patchiness in LHR. Calibration and power of the laser is important for a safe, comfortable and effective treatment. Find out what laser they will use and if it is under a maintenance contract. If their laser isn’t calibrated on a regular basis or is underpowered, your treatment may be painful or inefficient. After a series of 6-8 initial treatments, you may need a touch up every 3-5 years.Best of luck
