I don’t have a nose bridge and it seems to cause these 2 lines on my nose that I gob makeup on to cover up! I want a more narrow, projected, natural looking nose and wanted to know if it would be possible or will I only get subtle results because I have nothing to work with.
Answer: African American Rhinoplasty Candidate Yes, your nose can be refined with rhinoplasty. You are right to begin a search for an expert who understands the unique structural challenges of African-American rhinoplasty. African American noses tend to have thicker skin and weaker tip support than Caucasian noses, which means that surgical techniques vary between ethnic and Caucasian noses. It takes special interest and study to understand the facial aesthetics to create a nose that is harmonious with your other features and also respects your heritage. Take the time to find the right facial plastic surgeon and ask them to create digital images of the nose they propose for you. I hope this helps

Answer: African American Rhinoplasty Candidate The most common things addressed by my African American patients in regards to their nasal shape are: Weak or thin cartilage in the tip of the noseThick skin on the noseA low nasal bridgeWide nostrilsWith over 2 decades of experience in the field of rhinoplasty and a sub-specialty of ethnic rhinoplasty, I use a different set of surgical techniques to achieve a look for that individual patient that maintains their ethnic identity while helping to provide them with the modifications and enhancements they desire. The most important thing you can do on your journey toward finding the right surgeon is to seek out a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in ethnic rhinoplasty. You want to put your nose in the hands of experience and have a unified vision with your surgeon. Cost will vary due to facilities fee, anesthesia fees, etc. I am going to provide you a link to more information about African American Rhinoplasty and a video that also explains the procedure. I hope you find this information helpful as you move forward. Please feel free to reach out to our office in New York City if you have any questions. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: African American Rhinoplasty Hi Kendra,Thanks for your question. Based on the photos you provided, you have a bulbous nasal tip with wider bridge and nostrils than you would like. The bulbous tip would need to be reshaped; grafts may need to be used for tip support. You would benefit from nostril narrowing as well. Ethnic and African American Rhinoplasty are by far the most challenging cosmetic operations in cosmetic surgery. This because the anatomy and skin thickness requires special techniques to achieve desired results. Do your research online and try to choose a surgeon that can deliver results that you seek. They should have numerous before and after photos with results you like and seek. Choosing the right surgeon who has experience is imperative; you want to avoid any revision in the future. You can send me your photos for computer imaging.
