lymecycline/ tetrasyl prior to breast enlargement surgery

Question

Hi I am booked to have breast enlargement at the end of the month, I’m currently taking lymecycline x1 a day for skin problems. Is it ok to continue taking the medication up till and following surgery? I have read a few people saying you must stop taking antibiotics 4 weeks prior to surgery but was not told this by my consultant? Any help appreciated-thank you.

Although every surgeon has their own pre- and postoperative protocols, I would personally have no issue with you continuing your antibiotics before and after surgery. I would not be concerned that your surgeon did not mention it, because I think the vast majority of surgeons would be okay with you continuing the meds. Best of luck with your augmentation!

Lottie.  I do not see any contraindication to continuing your antibiotics, however I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon, as each of us have different philosophies regarding pre-operative medications. Best of luck.
