Picosure freckle removal on nose and cheeks 8 days ago. Not seen much improvement. Is that normal?

8 days ago i had my first Picosure treatment on face nose and cheeks for freckle removal. The area was red for a couple of hours and then went back to normal. I've not really noticed any difference to the freckles. I was told that it might take 3-5 treatments but i thought i would have at least seen some improvement by now. Is this normal? Why do i have to wait 3 weeks between treatments?

Thanks for your question.  We've been using the PicoSure last for two and a half years.  Your experience sounds pretty normal.  You are only 8 days into a 3-4 month treatment plan.  The PicoSure gently breaks up pigment from the lower levels up and is safe for all skin types.  Your skin is going to gradually get thicker and healthier.  Some of your pigment will be flushed away and some will come up through the surface.  Have patience, your skin is repairing itself and it continues getting better.  Best of luck.

We have a variety of options to treat freckles and believe it or not, more important than what technology is used, is the knowledge and training of the person performing the procedure. Since the majority of lasers on the market for skin rejuvenation were developed by dermatologists, I tell my patients, you're best bet is to see a dermatologist with advanced training in lasers. The Picosure is one option but in my office, I have about 7 difference laser devices used to treat freckles and pigment and which one to use really depends on the individual patient, their goals, their needs, their ability to have downtime and their budget.
