Can the cracked bonding be saved with a repair?

Thank you for asking and getting one step closer to the healthiest smile possible! I am assuming that your filling/bonding is on a front tooth. If you bite into hard foods, such as apples, carrots, or hard candies from the wrong angle, it can cause these fillings to break. Depending on how deep the crack is, it can either have another filling, or it may be best to place something stronger, such as a porcelain crown, that will not break easily under strong forces, or hard foods. The only way to know for certain is with a visit to the dentist and an xray. Hope I answered your question. 

The bonding might be able to be repaired or it might need to be replaced. You need to have your dentist  assess the condition and advise you of his recommendation. You can then ask him since it is only two years old if there will be a charge (be prepared, there probably will be).   Depending on your relationship with him and if you go regularly for your maintenance visits, he may offer to do it for free or he may give you a reduced fee. If the bonded restoration is large, another alternative might be to replace it with a stronger porcelain restoration.   If this were the case and you decide in favor of this recommendation, in my office we would apply the fee you paid for the bonding toward the new porcelain restoration.  Again, this would depend on your dentist's  policies.
