Could my breast implant be poking me? (photo)

Question

I’m almost 2 wks p.o, B/L with implants under the muscle and about 4 days ago I lifted myself up with a little too much force I assume and I felt my left implant move? muscle or something move. Since then I’ve been having a feeling as if something is poking me towards my cleavage area on the left breast only. Nothing feels or looks abnormal. Just painful/uncomfortable. My Dr is in another state so it’s hard to go back to him to take a look at it. What could it be? What can I do? Would it resolve itself?

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Dear vj9112,Thank you for your question.  Your photo does not indicate any problems, and obviously without the ability to do an examination it's difficult to give an accurate opinion.  I would just relax and be patient.  Outwardly it doesn't appear that anything is wrong.  I would recommend that you do communicate with your surgeon's office what your experiencing.  Hope this helps & good luck.James Sheridan, MD

Hi and welcome to our forum!From your photographs, your breasts appear relatively symmetric and the portions of the scar visible in the photo appear to be healing satisfactorily. The implants are riding high, as expected this early on. The source of pain is impossible to assess over the internet. An examination is required. This still could represent postsurgical discomfort caused by manipulation / cauterization / dissection of internal structures, including the pectoralis muscle. If local, I would advise reevaluation  by your surgeon. In this situation, if no improvement is noted over the next week or so, I would seek evaluation by a local physician.Best wishes...

Since your surgeon is out of state I would suggest that you contact the office and discuss your concerns over the telephone. It is likely nothing to worry about however since you have some pain associated with the incident I would follow up with your surgeon. Best of luck...
