Can I get new Invisalign retainers and how much do they cost?

I finished my express 10 Invisalign treatment. My dentist then asked for $500 to pay for retainers (the clear ones from Invisalign). He said I would be getting another retainer in 3 months & he would call me when they came in. I wore my first retainers for 3 months & then lost them. I called to see if my second set had come in yet, & my dentist said he made a mistake & I'm not getting any more retainers. To replace the ones I lost he wants another $500. Is this accurate? Do I have other options?

Sorry to hear that you're having such bad luck.  I can tell you that charging for this retainer is pretty standard practice, and depending on the region of the country you live in, the prices can vary.  I can tell you that prices for lost retainers range from $100 to $500.  I usually give my patients a free retainer at the end of treatment and then charge about $300 for each replacement. Sorry to hear about your problem.  Invisalign has a program called Vivera which sends 4 sets of retainers to be used over a period of time.  Not sure why your dentist is telling you that unless he did not order the set of 4.  Unfortunately you really do not have many options.
