After how long can I start seeing progress after taking Accutane?

Accutane is a go-to medication for patients with recalcitrant cystic acne. It can reduce pore size and also reduce sebum production in your skin, making it less oily; and in turn, dryer. Accutane can be used to control acne, but patients receiving the medication should be carefully monitored. In terms of skincare, always wear an appropriate sunscreen and reduce direct sun exposure. In my patients, I recommend a good ceramide moisturizer such as Elevase whenever they are on Accutane. This will keep the skin hydrated and reduce the oiliness of the skin that is associated with oil-based moisturizers.

Don't worry, everyone responds differently. Accutane always works. Knowing when you will see results is impossible, but generally, patients start to see results after 3-4 months. 

Some people take longer to see progress and this is a sign that you will probably need more of a cumulative dosage. The recommended cumulative dosage is between 8000-16000mg total. It is my experience that people who take longer to see results will need more mg to get to a full cure rate. For slow-going progress most people will start seeing it at about 60 days. Hang in there.
