When can I wear a cap or beanie cap after my transplant? Its been 5 days now.

Question

Just want to confirm when can i wear a cap and go out in public or work. Its been 5 days now and i am not going outside. is there any way to hide my head in public too if cap is not allowed

If a social situation or event necessitates the use of headwear, I would recommend a loosely fitted baseball hat or a carefully placed beanie after 24 hours has passed since the time of your hair transplant procedure. Check that the underside of the cap or beanie is not abrasive, as a rough surface can wear away at the grafted area and potentially reduce the growth of the transplant. Also be sure to keep the cap or beanie clean, as infections can lead to ingrown hairs, with can negatively affect growth. Pay attention to the placement of the cap or beanie as well to ensure that you do not disrupt the angulation of the grafts. The scalp will heal 10-14 days after your surgery—wearing a hat at that point is up to you.

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.  There should be no issues of wearing loose fitting hats after surgery.

We allow our patients to wear a loose fitting baseball type cap immediately after the procedure.For tighter fitting beanie caps Inwould recommend waiting 19-14 days.Please check with your surgeon regarding post op instructions.

you can wear a cap and go out in public or work the day after surgery .3 weeks after hair transplant all grafts take or some of them lost anyway and you can start to your normal life and do everything, including every kind of activity, smoking, close contact sports so on.

At 8 days post op it is ok to wear a loosely fitting hat. Be sure the hat is kept clean. As always its best to double check with your surgeon first.

An FUE is treated just like a regular hair transplant with regard to the recipient area, but the donor area has open wounds which require daily washing with soap and water. Within 3 days of surgery, you can resume full activities, heavy exercises if you wish. With proper washing techniques there should be no graft loss. The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient area free of crusts. I generally recommend daily washing and if you washed it properly, there will be no crusts on it, even the very next day. We use a surgical sponge which we supply our patients, a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient area daily. The shampoo and water squirt though the pores of the sponge and with these small jets of squirting liquid, the blood and crusts come off easily without disturbing the grafts as the sponge is pressed against the recipient area. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fear of losing grafts. If any crusts are present, use a Q tip anddip it into soapy water, and roll it o n the crusts and that will lift the crusts off without dislodging the grafts, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like to see no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from the donor area gone in 7-10 days with daily washing. You an safely wear a cap if you wish of any type of hat once the crust are off.
