Is 3000 grafts too many? (Photos)

Question

I consulted a reputed HT doctor and he suggested 2500-3000 grafts to cover the front of my head. I am a diffuse thinner at the hairline and temples have receded already. The crown and back doesnt bother me so no transplant on that area. I told him I want a lot of density in the hairline. Still I think 3000 might be overkill. Can somebody please guide me what the ideal number of grafts would be?

If you have diffuse hair loss, you may not be the best candidate for surgery.  You must also consider that normal hair density is about 200 hairs in a square centimeter for an average non-balding person who has about 100,000 hairs.

I advise you to have a FUE operation of 1800-2100 grafts. I determine frontal hair line and debade with you to decide level of new hairline. Hair transplantation would make dense all frontal area in one session of operation and you would have a good, successfull result .

A great first step would be an online consultation. Often you can submit photos to top hair restoration surgeons for a complimentary evaluation. This should help lead you in the right direction. Having multiple consultations with different doctors cannot hurt. That way you can compare evaluations and graft amounts recommended.

While you still have hair in the front, 3000 grafts may be overkill but from the photos, it is evident that you will eventually lose all of the hair (front to crown) and doing a hair transplant of 3000 grafts in front is short sited.  I hope you are not under 26 years old as if you are, you will almost certainly accelerate the hair loss process, even up to 30 years of age.,
