I had periareolar top surgery (the 'donut' technique) on July 18th. The recovery was uneventful, but a couple of days ago I spotted a small, bleeding hole on the left where there used to be a stitch. There's some yellow crusting at the top too. This nipple used to leak yellow liquid on my gauze, but it is crusted over now. The right nipple has a yellow tint under the skin that I believe is pus, and it has since darkened to a purple tint, but is still red. What is happening, and what do I do?

Answer: Draining sore on suture line when this occurs in the postoperative course, it is generally an overreaction to one of the absorbable stitches.I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon.

Answer: Top surgery questions Thanks for the questions and congrats on surgery. Hopefully all went well. Without knowing all details and examining you, it appears to you likely have a suture that may have gotten infected and/or broken which has caused the skin to open a little. Sometimes you can get "spitting sutures" which is when absorbable sutures cause more reaction than normal and your body tries to get rid of them rather than just slowly dissolving them. I would see your surgeon to make sure there is nothing else going on, but typically this is self limited and requires some local wound care and monitoring. Good Luck. "The above answer has been given without seeing this patient and cannot be substituted for actual in-person examination and medical advice; it is only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."
