I have poland syndrome and I was hoping to get some guidance on the treatment options. Considering pectoral implants.

Question

I have been told that I am missing only the pectoralis major and I have the pec minor but I'm not sure. I was considering pectoral implants to correct it but I noticed that the pectoral muscle of my existing side moves up as I lift my arm. Will the implant also move up similarly or will it stay still in one place only? Also, will the implant contract or expand as the existing muscle while moving the arm?

Indeed you seem to exhibit the classic and most basic sign of Poland Syndrome, displaying absence of the sternal head of the pectoralis major muscle. Pectoral implants are typically a good option for someone like yourself. The implants do move somewhat with movement of the arm.  However, because they are not actual muscle tissue they are more static and do not completely contract or expand like normal muscle tissue. That being said, they are usually a very very good trade off relative to not having the natural muscle present. By the way very few surgeons are specialist at pectoral implants so make sure to find someone that is and not someone that just does breast implants because the procedure is not performed the same way. Glad to help.

You have the classic male Poland's syndrome with the lower half of the pectoral muscle missing. Fortunately your nipple on that side is not highly positioned. The best treatment approach is to make a custom pectoral implant that replaces the missing muscle and fits up under the muscle you do have. This is placed through an armpit incision. The implant, once healed, will stay in position and not move around. The volume it provides will be stable and will not contact or expand like normal muscle. But it does not limit your physical activities such as working out or sports.
