Hello. I had a bbl 22 wks ago. I have been a little sore and itchy off and on since my procedure. However I have a few lumps on my left cheek. Any time I sit for a long period of time the lumps get bigger. They hurt and itch like crazy. Is this normal or should i be worried?
Answer: Is it normal to have lumps, pain, and itching at 22 wks after my BBL? Itching is fairly common after surgery. If there is any sign of rash or allergic reaction, that would be something different. Follow up with your PS to determine if any of your medications could be the culprit. Lumps after BBL could represent fat necrosis. Painful lumps need an evaluation for BBL revision.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BBL results Dear Buck85, based on your description, it doesn't look like a normal healing process. I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Swelling after Brazilian butt lift I've had patients who had swelling after liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks that is been present at even a year after the surgery. Itching and burning are a signs of persistent swelling around the nerves. Your issues could be persistent swelling and removing that swelling with massage could possibly be an answer. Fat necrosis is also a possibility. If this is fat necrosis sometimes you can drain this with the needle or a liposuction cannula. You need to go back to your surgeon who did the surgery and discuss the symptoms you're having and find out what your surgeon thinks could be the cause and what may be the treatment. Even if you traveled out of town for the surgery you must get a plane ticket and go back to the surgeon to be evaluated.

Answer: Pain itching and swelling 22 weeks after BBL What you describe is not normal. Most patients should see final results by three months. Persistent inflammation may represent larger areas of deep fat necrosis. I suggest following up with your plastic surgeon. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Answer: Lumps, Pain, Itching Following BBL You need to follow up with a plastic surgeon. It's hard to say without a proper consult and inspection, but it's possible the lumps are fat that did integrate with homogeneous consistency or was put in too superficially. You may be a candidate for BBL revision. If you are an candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) revision, the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool can be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. A Skype or Facetime consultation with a BBL specialist can help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee
