One month post op BBL, how can I make my body reabsorb more fat cells? (photo)

Question

My surgeon despite my wishes gave me a huge booty and hips. I am a little over a month post op. What can I do asap to have my body reabsorb more fat and have the volume on my butt and hips go down? I figured exercise would help but my surgeon told me to wait 3 months because the surgery ass very invasive. I understand I am still very swollen but maybe I can do something in the early stages to assist with fat reabsorption. Please help, thanks!

Thank you for your pictures and questions. At this point, there is really nothing you can do to purposely remove the grafted fat. I suppose that not following post-op instructions (limited sitting, etc.) could potentially decrease the amount of graft take. However, at only one month from surgery, you are going to have a significant decrease in size with normal graft loss and decrease of swelling and edema. The results immediately following surgery will be the largest due to swelling and lack of fat resorption.  The buttocks will continue to decrease in size for the first few weeks.   I have observed that between 4 and 6 weeks the buttocks tend to stabilize in volume.  Usually by 3 months, the swelling is minimal and totally resolved by 6 months.  A larger butt than desired after a BBL can be liposuctioned to improve contours by an expert in the field.  This needs to be done very carefully to avoid skin sagging. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Thanks for your question. You are still healing and have swelling. After surgery there is a predictable swelling process that mostly resolves over two to three months, when the final result really settles in.  You could also do some exercises to help tone the butt and also some cardio exercise.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
After a BBL, only about 70% of the transferred fat cells will survive, so so you can expect to see a reduction in your buttocks. You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, inflammation is normal.Also, after a BBL, you lose or gain weight in the same way as before. So, if you lose a considerable amount of weight, the results of your surgery will be affected.
If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

At this very early postoperative stage I recommend waiting for more healing time, about 3 months total. But during this phase if you desire resorption I would be sitting on my buttock, having lymphatic massages to hips & buttock. After few months low diluted dosing of KyBella to help with resorption might work. Otherwise only doing superficial lipo of area with possible reshaping fat transfer is indicated.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately at 1 month post surgery there is nothing you can do to decrease the size. The size will decrease on its own for up to 6 months after surgery from normal post operative swelling. After 3 months your surgeon my choose to decrease the size with liposuction as this is your only option. Best of luck with your recovery.

Since you are only one month after surgery, you can be rest assured that you are still fairly swollen and will still come down in size. If you want to expedite the volume decrease you can consider a tighter compression garment or cardio exercise only if it is cleared by your surgeon. You are still healing and have swelling.

there's nothing you can do nor should do to remove previously grafted fat at this point. I recommend waiting like your plastic surgeon said then discuss having a revision with liposuction to give you a more proportionate shape.  Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Following the recommendations of your surgeon is very important. The recovery takes around 4 to 6 weeks, the position to sleep on your back can be done after 2 weeks,  you must perform lymphatic drainage massages, for me more, and you can continue your normal activities, perform light exercises, then increase the routine without any problem. 
  
The total recovery of the procedure takes from 6 months to a year, it is advisable to wait 6 months between each surgery, to avoid risks, your surgery is very recent, have a lot of patience.
