Would Septorhinoplasty shorten my philtrum? (Photo)

Question

Forgive my lack of correct terminology, but as you can see in my photos the part under my nose protrudes out quite a bit and makes my chin, which is admittedly a bit recessed, look even more so. I have a deviated septum that needs fixing so I was wondering if having my septum fixed would correct this problem or if something else would need to be done?

A septoplasty will make the septum straighter, and will improve your breathing. Unless done with a rhinoplasty, there will not be any aesthetic changes to your nose.
The philtrum is the distance from the base of the nose to the top of your cupids bow-- neither septoplasty or rhinoplasty will shorten this distance, only a lip lift will shorten this.
If you are talking about how far the tip of your nose sticks out from the plane of your face, we call that projection, and with a rhinoplasty, tip projection and rotation, can be adjusted, but that will not be done with only a septoplasty.

Hi! Thank you for your question and picture. As I can understand from your picture, the distance between the base of your nose and lip is a little more than usual. So, if you are planning to have a septum correction surgery, this distance can be reduced with lip-lift operation at the same time. Lip-lift is done on both men and women but men it must be done carefully, not to have a feminine result.I hope I could answer your question.
