I did my first consultation with a surgeon today. I told home that I want circumferential Lipo and especially anterior thigh Lipo. I carry most of my fat on my outer and anterior thigh. However, he told me I could not get anterior Lipo because the front of the thigh is prone to getting lumps and ridges. Will SAFELipo eliminate this problem so I can achieve the thinnest thighs possible?

SAFE liposuction is a technique/series of steps in the manner in which liposuction is performed that help to improve the efficiency of liposuction as well a the contour of the tissues undergoing liposuction. That said, it is still possible with this and ANY liposuction technique to have complications such as contour irregularities, lumps/bumps/scar tissues, fluid collections, etc. It depends partly on the skill and experience of the surgeon and well as patient factors, how optimal the results can be. Ultimately there are no guarantees (i.e. nothing is 0 or 100 percent) in medicine or surgery, but there are things we can do to help minimize complications and unfavorable cosmetic outcomes as much as possible! The anterior thigh is an anatomical area that is slightly more prone to unfavorable outcomes in liposuction but it is not impossible/improbable to achieve good contour in this location.

Answer: Thigh SAFELipo Excellent question. I routinely perform thigh SAFELipo liposuction and I liposuction the anterior thigh all the time. I spent a year in fellowship with Dr. Wall, the surgeon who invented SAFELipo, and we have written multiple book chapters on this exact topic. With correct SAFELipo technique, the anterior thigh can be safely liposuctioned without concern for lumps. In fact, I find the anterior thigh a relatively easy location for liposuction. I recommend making another consultation with a provider certified in SAFELipo and who specializes in liposuction and body contouring. Hope this helps.
