Fair skin, left with prolonged erythema in about 8 spots due to fairly recent breakout. Acne now under control. In the past, it took about 12 months for these to resolve without treatment. Topicals do not work. What device would be best to clear the red marks faster-IPL or PDL? Would either device be more cost effective? Thank you!

Answer: Vbeam vs IPL for Redness Both Vbeam and IPL work to quickly and effectively reduce redness so it's really a matter of what you and your doctor decide on as the better treatment plan for you. I recommend consulting with a board-certified dermatologist very experienced in both lasers to determine which would best suit your needs and goals.

Answer: Vbeam and IPL for Acne Lesions Hi Wright1,Thanks for your question. Both IPL (BBL is the best type of IPL) and Vbeam can address your concerns very effectively as they both have wavelengths that target redness. Although your question is very valid, the more important consideration is the physician you are going to visit in consultation. A skilled physician with a lot of experience would be able to treat you with either one as it is really about optimizing the parameters of your treatment. Essentially, it is more important what you do with the technology than which one you use - in this case. Hope this helps - best of luck, Manish Khanna, MD
