Do my dental veneers appear bulky? (Photos)

I had eight porcelain veneers placed on my teeth about two years ago. My teeth have always been a little big, and I’ve had an overbite. I wore braces several times, and veneers were meant to assist in the appearance of my teeth. I would love an honest answer regarding the appearance of my veneers. Do they look too bulky? Are the canines too long?? If so, is there any way to fix these if I would am I unable to get them replaced I’m thinking about maybe rounding the edges a little bit and shortening the canines but would they appear natural if they were shortened altogether? Also, should they just be redone? ? My Dentist is my family Dentist and his son did my veneers. This was about two years ago. I’m unsure if I can go back to discuss having them replaced since it’s been two years. Also as an option? Would it would I be able to make my teeth look less bulky if I tried to address the overbite? ? Thanks in advance.

Based on the photos, I do think the veneers have a slightly fuller or bulkier appearance, but I would not describe them as dramatically oversized. A lot of this also comes down to personal preference. If you consistently feel that the teeth look too bulky or too large, then that concern is important even if the veneers are technically acceptable.
At this point, there are really two main options.
The first would be to see whether the veneers can be carefully recontoured and polished. Sometimes small changes can make a meaningful aesthetic difference. The incisal edges can sometimes be shortened slightly, the canine tips can potentially be softened, and the embrasures&mdash;the small V-shaped spaces between the teeth&mdash;can sometimes be opened a little to make the teeth look more individually defined and less bulky.
That said, there are limits to what recontouring can accomplish. It is generally easier to make veneers look a little shorter than it is to make them substantially narrower or less prominent from the side.
If conservative reshaping does not give you the look you want, then the other option would be to have the veneers replaced.
You could certainly start by discussing this with the dentist who originally treated you. Explain specifically what you would like changed and ask whether they feel confident they can create a slimmer, softer result on a second set.
If you are considering going elsewhere, I would focus less on titles and more on the dentist’s actual work. Look for someone who does a large amount of veneer dentistry and has many before-and-after photos showing smiles with the proportions, contours, and level of naturalness that you personally prefer.
Regarding the overbite, changing the bite may be helpful for function in some situations, but I would not assume that correcting the overbite alone will make the existing veneers look significantly less bulky. That would need to be evaluated clinically.
So in your situation, I would probably explore minor recontouring first, since it is the more conservative option. If that still does not give you a smile you feel good about, then replacement becomes the more predictable way to substantially change the size and shape.
