I have a minor collapse on the side of my bridge. I guess it could be classified as an inverted v, but I've been told a revision isn't really necessary. It's been over 10 years since breaking my nose (causing my initial surgery). Is there a chance it will get worse? It's been this way for a long time and surgery is a last resort.
Answer: Nasal Collapse If a nose stays essentially the same for 10 years following a fracture, it is not likely to change much in the future. There is always a possibility that with facial aging nasal collapse could become more visible. Of course, if it hasnt prompted a consult for revision by now...

Answer: Can Nasal Collapse Get Worse? Having been stable, from a nasal breathing standpoint, for over ten years it is unlikely you should see worsening. If you begin to become symptomatic or aesthetically the dorsum appears worse, schedule a consult with a board certified surgeon for evaluation. Good Luck.

Answer: Can a nasal collapse get worse? It is possible that either any breathing issues of the external appearance of an inverted V can worsen over time. However, this typically occurs slowly over a period of many years. If your breathing or the appearance of your nose are not major issues at that point, you would probably be best off waiting to see how things change over time. If either ever become a significant issue for you they can both be improved with rhinoplasty surgery.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Nasal collapse after ten years It is doubtful that your nose will change much if it has been fairly stable these past ten years. If you are ok with your nose then leave it alone.

Answer: Can the "V" get worse after rhinoplasty The inverted V from retraction or collapse of the upper cartilage can become visible many years after rhinoplasty. The cause is that over time the skin will thin on the bridge and the V can become more aparent. If things are good now however over ten more years they can stay the same. Revision should be about the here and now, not what might be.
