My nose is pushed to the right side and on the left side there is a bump and a hollow dip underneath the bump where my nose begins to tilt to the side as if my nose had been broken (I don't remember ever having done anything to my nose). Can my nose be straightened out? What else would you suggest I do to get a nicer looking nose?
Answer: Rhinoplasty If I were to perform a rhinoplasty in your case, I would do the following: you have a small hump that needs to be removed, your nasal tip needs to be shortened and refined, and the bones need to be broken. The breaking of the bones will improve the asymmetry, but some degree of asymmetry may persist. I think you would get a great result. I would also perform a lip reduction on you (that's a joke).

Answer: Can my nose be straightened? In general, straightening a crooked nose is a very difficult procedure and requires a specialist. It is not always possible to get the nose 100% straight, but great improvements can still be made. I would recommend an in-person consult with a board certified rhinoplasty specialist. He or she will be able to evaluate your nose in person and provide you with advice. Computer imaging software may be used, where your prospective surgeon can morph a photo of you. This will give you an idea of how the final result of surgery may appear. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Can my nose be straightened? The nose can be straightened and the bump reduced through a closed rhinoplasty procedure. You may want a bit of tip refinement as well.Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of rhinoplasties and rhinoplasty revisions each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Can my nose be straightened? If the appearance of your nose concerns you enough, it can be straightened and cosmetically improved with a rhinoplasty. Whether it is worth doing is a decision that is personal and only you can make. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. The extent and length of the procedure, cost, and the specific operative steps to achieve an ideal cosmetic result vary from patient to patient and would depend on the findings at your consultation examination.
