Can I have my teeth whitened if I have no enamel, they were 'coated' when I was small?

Generally speaking, teeth whitening works best for teeth that are slightly yellow, but but not actually brown or severely stained.  If you are truly missing tooth enamel, then veneers are likely the best option for you.  If you are not actually missing tooth enamel, but simply had sealants placed, then removing the sealants, whitening the teeth, then placing new sealants may be the best option for you.    Good luck and I hope this helps. Teeth whitening works best on natural enamel. If you had teeth coated when you were young, is the coating still present; was it just varnish or sealant in back teeth. You can have teeth whitening at any age as an adult and you will benefit as long as your teeth are already not extremely white. For enamel less teeth though, veneers might be better option.

It is likely you got sealants, which only go in the grooves, not the smooth parts (what you see when you smile).  It is likely you misunderstood what was being done or why. Whitening should be fine.
