Is it possible to place composite resin over front teeth? My teeth are yellow but they are straight. I don't want to shave them down for veneers. I've also tried in-house whitening (I believe I sat 30min in the chair) but I didn't notice any difference. My dentist told me about composite resin (or bonding?) a few years ago and I'm hoping its as simple as "painting" the teeth for a whiter effect? Any info would be nice! Thanks, David.
Answer: How to fix yellow teeth Hello there,After reviewing your question I would say, just get the veneers. The resin bonding is only temporary and will set you back hundreds of dollars. Why waste that money, when you can use it towards a more permanent fix like veneers. Of course you loose some natural tooth structure, but that natural tooth structure is replaced by a extremely strong synthetic structure. To put this into perspective, braces typically cause your tooth roots to resorb (or shrink some). Some people would argue that your teeth are weakened, but they typically last just as long. Would you want very strong crooked teeth or slightly weakened straight teeth? Your situation is similar; do you want strong yellow teeth, or slightly reduced structure white teeth? Ultimately, you loose a little structure, but gain the beauty and confidence of the better looking teeth. Let us know what you choose.

Answer: How to Make My Front Teeth Whiter My advise to you is to keep your NATURAL teeth. You mentioned the shape is fine but they are yellow. Whether you do composite resin or bonding, or veneers, there will be reduction of your natural teeth. I would keep the teeth because you are happy with their shape and do not want them reduced, and try other methods of whitening. Often times, one whitening system works better over others. I would try Kor Whitening. We do custom made trays and whitening for at least 45 minutes to and hour on the patient in the office. Then they take whitening gel home and use it every night for two weeks. Then you have one more chair side whitening with the light and the results should be magnificent! Kor works well on teeth that have stains or are just plain hard to bring up to the desired shade. Hope this helps!

Answer: Composite Veneers It may be a good temporary and inexpensive way to see what a better smile may look like.Composite does have some drawbacks compared to porcelain veneers. Such as color stability, strength, longevity in terms of wear and breakdown. In my opinion, if you want the most "Bang for your Buck", porcelain really is the way to go. However, if you need to do something, give it a go.Note: many times even with composite veneers a similar amount of tooth reduction is required, to achieve the desired result and cost for really good veneers composite or porcelain is usually similar. Bear in mind, Cost usually proportion to what you end up with.Good Luck.

Answer: Would composite resin over front teeth to make my yellow teeth white? Yes, direct composite bonding can certainly be done. But many times if the teeth are large, lean forward and there is not any tooth preparation the bonding will make the tooth appear "bulky" and unnatural. If the dentist make the bonding very thin, then likely that it won't significantly change the color of your teeth enough. Also, thin bonding just doesn't look real enough, as you need a minimum thickness for strength and esthetics. For a better result you might consider "minimal prep" porcelain veneers or direct composite bonding. Also understand that porcelain is much longer lasting and more color stable compared to composite resin restorations. As far as just "painting" the teeth with a very thin composite resin, like a "flowable composite", I believe you will truly be disappointed, but it can be done. Don't expect miracles if you restrict the dentist as to how to do your bonding.

Answer: When does bonding help Unless you had teeth that were angled inwards, or tucked in next to your other teeth, ANY restoration will have reduction, removal of tooth structure, Any restoration in order to last has to have .5-1 mm reduction at the minimum. You say your issues is the color, well bonding stains much faster that real teeth. Porcelain veneers never stain. So, for what hear fro you, composite may not be your best choice. May be a temporary fix , and trying out what you like to do. Good luck
