My implant crowns come off while I'm eating or brushing my teeth, why is this happening?

I have had 2 implant crowns reglued at least 4 times. what is the problem?

There are several reasons why this may be happening:1. Your dentist may be using a temporary cement to fix the crowns (which is a widely followed practice, even though I do not follow it myself), so its easy to retrieve the crown if the abutment becomes loose. This can be corrected by using a permanent cement.2. If a permanent cement is used, its possible the size of the abutments is too small to provide adequate retention to the cemented crowns. In such a case your dentist may want to screw retain the crowns instead of cementing them.Hope this helps. Take care and keep smiling.

Implant crowns are different from crowns over natural teeth. Since implant teeth cannot decay, it is common practice for many dentists to cement implant crowns with temporary cement. This allows for retrieval of the crown if the abutment screw ever needed to be retightened underneath the crown. In some situations, especially for front teeth, the crowns require permanent cement to have sufficent retention. It seems that your implant has light retention. It should be reevaluated and it most likely will require cementation with permanent cement.
