Is it possible to push your top teeth out with your bottom teeth?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Do you mean, that you feel your bottom teeth are pushing your top teeth forward? (and not pushing your top teeth out of the bone?)

If you are worried that they are being pushed forward, then you should see an orthodontist for reassurance. It is possible that your bottom teeth can push your top teeth forward, but this only happens where people have a very specific bite pattern. You could have a retainer made, that you wear at night, this will help keep your teeth in the same position they are in at the moment.

Hope this helps!

My daughter is 13 and has 3 missing top teeth. What treatment would you recommend?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Hi, it does depend which teeth are missing, and if by missing, are they stuck in the bone, or just not developed at all?

Lets assume that the teeth are not developed at all, and there are spaces where the teeth should be, your challenge is to get a nice cosmetic appearance, which fits in with her lifestyle, knowing that this may need to be changed in 7-10 years. (I normally advised waiting until you are about 21 before going for implants - if at all possible).

The most non invasive option for now is to have a removable plastic denture made. She may not love this, but it is definitely the quickest and simplest thing to do.

If the tooth position is not ideal, or the spaces need to be enlarged, then have braces now, and either a denture, or a temporary bridge.

Having a temporary bridge, this will look nice, the teeth will not be removable, and there is no tooth adjustment needed. To find out more about these temporary bridges, do a google search for sticktech, and find the videos on their site, these are designed for dentists, but show the idea really well.

I would avoid any permanent bridges at this stage, as her jaw and body are still developing.

I hope this helps a little!

Kind regards

Will non-surgical treatment fix my Class III bite without making my face even more sunken? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Hi, without a proper assessment, I can't say, but your class 3 looks quite mild and ipr will not sink your face. In fact by straightening your top teeth, it may fill your profile a touch.

usually taking out two or 4 premolar teeth will sink your profile.

I hope this helps

Can veneers be done on NHS? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Hi,  unfortunately you will not get veneers on the NHS. In general you only get the most basic treatments in the NHS, like black fillings, dentures and extractions.

Most good clinics will offer payment methods, and you might be able to finance the treatment, which makes it easier to afford.

I hope this helps.

Can lower arch expansion be performed on an adult if teeth are straight? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Firstly, have you seen an ENT (ear, nose throat) specialist for an assessment, that would be first on my to do list!

To answer your question, it depends on why you have a narrow arch, are the actual bones too narrow, or are the teeth tilted in?

If the bones are too narrow, it is possible to expand these, I warn you - its not nice! and the absolute best way to do this is have a clamp fitted to the roof of your mouth, secured by mini pins, and this clamp cracks the bone in the middle, and separates it out. I have never done this for anyone!

You may be lucky, and it might be the teeth tilted in, as you can sometimes get if you used to suck your thumb, in this case, you could upright the teeth and this would give you some widening.

In regards to your (correct) point about would your bottom teeth fit - it depends on how much the the upper is expanded, the bottom teeth can be 'rolled' outward to make them fit a slightly wider arch.

In my opinion, your face shape is normal, and I would look at finding out why you have sinus issues first.

I hope this helps!

I'm 37, and I have a large overbite. Am I too old to fix my teeth or is it something that can be done? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
I agree, something can always be done. It looks like the only way to achieve an ideal result is to have brace treatment, in combination with jaw surgery.

If you would be happy with an improvement, then you might get this with just braces - but this would not close the bite completely. I would see a few orthodontists, as some will only give you an all or nothing treatment plan.

I hope this helps!

One of my teeth is longer than the other. (Maybe even slightly further forward?)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Hi, first of all, I am assuming that the teeth and gums are healthy, if the tooth has recently moved into this position, there may be a gum or tooth issue.

I would firstly recommend braces, it just seems like one tooth is a little out, you could have a brace on the front 6 teeth, on the inside, or outside, and it would probably just take a few months to correct. I would definitely do this, as differences in the symettry of the front two teeth are very obvious. A slightly crooked chin is hardly noticable as all!

The other option is veneers, possibly two. There will definitely be some tooth reduction, which is why my first choice is the braces.

I hope this helps!

My Dental Implant screw is broken again. Is there any other method to hold lower dentures tight?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
As the other dentist mentioned, if things are overloaded, then they will break at their weakest point.

I normally recommend 4 implants for the lower jaw, for this reason, there is less load per implant.

You have also mentioned that you have a heavy bite, so the denture teeth should be made in a way to minimise the biting forces, and this is even more reason to have 4 implants, rather than just the two.

How is Dental Implants better than any other treatment for replacing a missing tooth?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Hi,

From a health point of view, dental implants are as close to your natural teeth as can be. They are just as strong, and look just as good (when done well)

Unlike a bridge, there is no need to remove healthy tooth tissue from the teeth either side, and if in the future the implant fails, you can often have another one. If a bridge fails, then you probably need two implants and a new bridge!

Dental implants last longer than any other treatment - and have a much higher chance of success (usually about 95%)

You can clean well around implants, as you do not have several teeth stuck together, so you can use floss.

In the UK, they cost about the same as a bridge with three teeth, so there is no real cost disadvantage.

I dont think you can compare an implant to a removable tooth on a denture, they are just too far apart. Its like comparing a Rolls Royce to a bicycle!

I hope this helps!

I have had a root canal treatment two days ago and a file broke in my tooth.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It is not uncommon for a file to separate, a bit unfortunate though.

Most of the time, it doesn't cause a problem, and it actually makes a good, tight root filling. If there is an infection, your dentist may try and remove the separated file, or cut the tip off the tooth. it all depends on how much broke, and how tight it is in the canal.

If you get problems, you should see a root treatment specialist for any further treatment on this tooth.

Kind regards
