Do chin fillers dissolve bone or damage it? Also, is there fat in the chin where filler can be injected and where is that fat because Botox needles hit the muscle and those needles are very small.

Answer: Do fillers damage or dissolve facial bone? Hi Tough9770, Fillers do not damage or dissolve facial bone. Facial bone begins to lose volume naturally from age 25 on. Chin implants have been known to cause the bone of the chin to reabsorb, we see this occasionally when chin implants are removed. There is fat under the skin in the chin. Filler in the chin area is injected under the muscle over the bone, or in the subcutaneous tissue. Good luck and be well. Dr. P Encino, CA

Answer: Chin anatomy Hello- HA fillers are being injected into the chin for augmentation. These fillers are injected deeper than those in the nasolabial folds or lips. The chin filler is injected deep by the bone, so yes, I think it natural to wonder if this could be changing the bone structure. There is no evidence of this and it would seem to be very unlikely. Chin implants can alter the bone very slightly, but this can be minimized with appropriate techniques. The layers at the chin from surface to bone are- outer skin, dermis, fat, muscle and bone. Botox is placed in muscle to minimize dimpling caused by Mentalis muscle. Filler in chin for volume is usually placed deep by connection of muscle and bone.
