Benzoyl peroxide, depending on the strength, can dry up the skin. I would wait till the IPL treatment redness subsides before using BP.Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Once your skin is healed--no longer red, pink or swollen-- you may resume the benzoyl peroxide. Plan on waiting about one week until using it, and you will find it actually will help slough off any remaining dryness quicker as it will lightly exfoliate the skin.
Thanks for your question. The big thing in recovery from IPL is that your skin will be quite dry and tend towards flakiness. You'll need to be using a really good moisturizer as well as sun screen. As you know, benzoyl peroxide can dry your skin as well. If I was you, I'd wait a couple of weeks before resuming its use, but your skin will tell you when it's time. The flushing/blushing on your face might be an indicator that you are suffering from Rosacea. Without pictures is difficult to make that assessment. Consider a consultation with your dermatologist/facial/plastic surgeon. A series of treatments with the Lumenis IPL has been effective in my hands...
You can get some swelling after an IPL but it should go down within 3-5 days. I would apply a cold compress 2-3 a day. If it does not go away after 3-5 days I would notify the facility where you had the treatment or your MD.
The main thing to consider before you start your treatments is to have a consult with a reputable dermatologist/facial/plastic surgeon. My practice has been considered by Lumenis lasers to be a Lumenis laser center of excellence and I have been a "Luminary" (Lumenis physician teacher) for the...
I wouldn't suggest it. IVF treatments can increase brown spots or melasma by hormonal response that may go away once the treatments have been discontinued or after a successful pregnancy. In addition, you may possibly become pregnant and IPL treatments are not FDA approved for use on pregnant...
Hello. There are two possibilities in your situation. The first is that you may have Melasma. Melasma is a common hormonally related condition that appears as brown spots on the cheeks, upper lip and forehead. In many cases it is mistaken for sun damage and treated with...
My office specializes in photofacials. We use the IPL Limelight and there is no clinical data to support a contraindication between IPL and birth control pills. Do not undergo IPL if you are taking photosensitizing meds. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
