Hi.  It is fairly common for patients to be concerned about how they look right after their surgery.  For a breast augmentation it does take a while for the tissues to relax and get used to the new implant that is there.  This is a gradual process, and as the tissues relax, the breast tends to look more normal.  Your result at this extremely early time frame appears very reasonable.  Stay in close contact with your operating surgeon so that he or she can help guide you through this healing process.  Good luck and take care,Dr. Howell

Because you are in the early stages of healing from your breast augmentation procedure, it is too early to see the final results. Your body will continue to heal and swelling will diminish over the next several weeks. The implants themselves can take many months to drop and settle under your skin. After this time, you will have a much better idea of what your breasts will look like.

You are still very early in the healing process and what you are seeing are not your final results yet. It usually takes about 6 months or so for your body to fully heal and only by this time will you be able to conclude your final results. It would be best to be patient and wait for at least 3 months as your appearance would still improve overtime. 

It will take time for things to settle and I would run your concerns past your plastic surgeon. A bra that is too tight and causing compression in the incorrect fashion is best avoided. 

It can take several months for the breasts to settle out. Give them time to heal. Good luck with your results.

In the first week, your breasts will be swollen and sit high on your chest. This gives some patients the impression that they are “bigger” prior to dropping. Part of why you’ll get this impression is because you will look down at your breasts, and since they are closer to you, they appear bigger.
From the first week to one month, the skin will relax and there is less swelling, so the implants begin to drop. Usually by your third month, you will have the final result.
Note that the healing process of breast augmentation is asymmetric. That means it is possible that one breast may look more swollen, have more bruising, or appear higher than the other. This is completely normal and will go away with time.
Starting one week after surgery, I direct my patients to perform breast massages as directed, two times a day. Breast massaging may prevent scar formation, assists the skin in accommodating the implant and helps you get used to the feel of your new breasts.

I hope that answers your question on when implants will drop. It’s great that you’re doing this research. I always say that the best patients are informed patients.

Thanks for your question and photos. At 2 days post-op, you are still extremely early in the healing process. Barring any complications, breast swelling typically resolves in several weeks, however implants can take anywhere up to 3-6 months to settle into position, meaning that your breast shape can change over that time. It is important to have an in-person medical assessment regarding this issue as it is difficult to determine virtually. Continue to update your doctor in the matter and follow their post-op protocol.
It is important to get cleared by your doctor before engaging in specific physical activity before the 3 month healing period has ended as the healing stage is crucial for healthy results.
It generally takes around 6 months to a year to see your final results. Your tissues will take time to relax and allow your implants to "Drop and Fluff" settling into place.
Our tips for recovery following breast augmentation are to wear a supportive sports bra for 3 months post-operative and refrain from lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for 3 weeks as we don't want any strain at your incision sites. Make sure to keep the area of your stitches clean by cleansing with hydrogen peroxide daily. Showering is encouraged! But, no sitting in water for 2 weeks following surgery (no baths, hot tubs, pools etc.).
