Hi Kathou05, Thank you for your question regarding pregnancy and biopolymer injections. Biopolymers are associated with painful granulomas and even cancers. Usually, before biopolymers start to cause you problems, I suggest you have these biopolymers removed. However, since you are pregant now, you cannot undergo surgery because of anesthesia risks to your child. As far as I know, there have been no docuemntated cases of transmission of biopolymers across the placenta to your baby. So, I think your baby is safe, but no one really knows. Also, the risks of doing anything now (surgery), outweigh the benefits of biopolymer removal. I would suggest you have the biopolymers removed once you have stopped breast feeding. Since removing biopolymers is not an easy procedure, please seek an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon with significant experience in removing silicone. Among other things, I specialize in silicone removal. Do your research. Make sure they have performed at least 100 breast silicone removal surgeries and have the before and after pictures to prove it. Carefully examine their before and after pictures and check their reviews on RealSelf. If you cannot find an experienced, silicone removal surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state if you must. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
