3 Months Post Breast Lift and Nipple Very Sore, What Is Causing This?

I have breast lift w/ implants 3 months ago. Had to have knot on permanent stitch on one breast removed since it was poking through skin. Now while massaging scar on other breast, the nipple become extremely sore and painful. It has been 2 days now and pain is shooting up my breast. What is causing this?

As sensibility returns to the nipple and areola after a mastopexy patients can experience some extra tenderness. This will improve as time passes.

It sounds like you are most likely having nerve pain.  Your nerves can commonly "go to sleep" after such a big operation, and as they wake up it is not uncommon for you to experience "parasthesia's" which are just your nerve endings waking up.  This can cause sharp shooting pains, and the best thing to do for this is massage.  This will de-sensitize the area overtime. Certainly, it is very important to review this with your surgeon to make sure that he/she is in agreement with this plan.
