have not had Botox in crows feet for 2 years because of getting chipmunk cheeks and hollows under the eye the last 3 times I got it. Got botox 2 weeks ago and it worked for the crows feet but now I have vertical lines on top of cheeks when I smile that were not there before. Could I get filler for these wrinkles? I actually look older with these wrinkles than before.
Answer: Fillers may help address your vertical lines. Thanks for your question, and I’m happy to hear your BOTOX® treatments took care of the crow’s feet. To address the vertical wrinkles you’re seeing, dermal fillers may be an option for increasing volume and softening strong lines. It might also be beneficial to discuss your concerns with your surgeon and plan for follow-up BOTOX® treatments to help address additional wrinkles in places you don’t want them.

Answer: Wrinkle Relaxers (Like Botox) Work Best For Dynamic (Movement-Related) Wrinkles; Fillers Work For Static (At Rest) Wrinkles Photos might have been helpful. However, in general, dynamic wrinkles, i.e. those, like crow's feet lines, that form with movement of the muscles of facial expression are amenable to neuromodulators (wrinkle relaxers), such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin.Wrinkles at rest (static wrinkles), i.e. those etched-in wrinkles that have appeared after years of facial expression, are best treated with fillers, such as Juvederm Ultra XC, Restylane L or Belotero Balance. You seem to be describing, however, a situation, where these new vertical wrinkles relate to motion. This suggests either inadequate Botox treatment or the recruitment of muscles outside of the treatment area in response to the suppression of the crow's feet muscles. Additional Botox may be necessary for this area and/or the use of fillers to soften the appearance of the wrinkles with movement. You would be wise to seek consultation and treatment by a board certified aesthetic physician with experience and expertise in nonsurgical facial rejuvenation. Make sure to ask to see his/her before and after photos.

Answer: Botox for Crows feet Botox is an excellent treatment for crow's feet, as these are dynamic muscle lines. Fillers work great for static lines, and can occasionally be used to tone down the lines that I think you are describing. I would not place botox in those lines that you are describing, as it would likely affect your smile.

Answer: Vertical cheek lines after Botox I have a feeling that those lines were actually there prior to Botox. Periocular lines are caused by two main functions. The first is squinting, and the second is smiling. When a person smiles, they are cheeks elevate. This causes lines under the eye. When the orbicularis muscle is relaxed due to neuromodulator injections, The lines just changed direction. My preferred treatment for periocular lines is neuromodulators (Botox, etc.) and laser skin resurfacing Photographs would have been helpful.Dr David Mueller
