I’d like to mostly just have my nose be much smaller and a little more refined. But also would like to avoid the ski slope nose so maintain just a slight bump. I know bringing the nose too close to the face can look like a collapsed nose as well. But it possible to have all of what I asked in the question section be done?
Answer: Rhinoplasty I give you a lot of credit because you have stated very clearly exactly what needs to be done with your nose. It needs to be closer to the face, very simply stated. In order to accomplish this excess cartilage would be removed from your tip and the entire bridge, not just the bump, needs to be lowered considerably. You will also need the bones broken. This can be accomplished either will an open or closed rhinoplasty but the bridge needs to be lowered a lot more than you might think, and many rhimoplasty surgeons are very conservative in their approach. So go on a few consults and try to find someone who shares your vision.

Answer: Bulbous Nose Tip? Rhinoplasty Candidate Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry and shape. You can bring the pictures that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed. It takes special interest and study to understand the facial aesthetics to create a nose that is harmonious with your other features. Take the time to find the right facial plastic surgeon and ask them to create digital images of the nose they propose for you and discuss the cost. Hope this helps.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Candidate I would recommend starting with a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty surgery to discuss if rhinoplasty can address your concerns. I would recommend writing down the following questions before scheduling your consultation: 1. Are you unhappy with the tip of your nose? 2. Do you feel that your nose is too wide? 3. Do you want to make your nostrils smaller in appearance? 4. Are you looking to decrease the general size of your nose? I hope some of these questions will help you pinpoint what it is that you don't like about your nose. Cost will vary due to various factors like anesthesia fees, facilities fees, etc. I wish you the best as you research your options when scheduling a rhinoplasty consultation. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. You may also benefit from a nasal tip deprojection to bring your nasal tip closer to your face and a conservative dorsal hump reduction. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Smaller nose Yes, your requests are attainable and reasonable. The nose can certainly be made smaller, but it must be done so in a way that preserves function and stability. Find a board-certified rhinoplasty expert you trust to discuss your specific goals. Best of luck!
