How can I stop the bleeding after after functional eyelid surgery?

I have had consistent bleeding from my right eyelid. It started about 3 hours after surgery and has been dripping blood for about 22 hours. Saw the doctor this am. He said it will stop, but he said that yesterday. I have had a pressure bandage on it which bleeds through about every 2 hours. What can I do to stop the bleeding? I have no pain or other issues, just bleeding.

This amount of bleeding, as you describe, may not be a normal occurrence post-operatively (though an examination and review of your operation would be necessary to come to that conclusion). I agree that a repeat examination may be needed. If your blood pressure increased, or if you have been taking certain medications after surgery which interfere with blood clotting, this can cause acute post-operative bleeding. If this is the case, and it is bleeding through pressure bandages, then another surgery may be needed to open the incision and stop the source of bleeding. A visit to your nearest ED may be necessary.

There is something wrong with your surgeon. If your surgeon will not take care of you, go to the emergency room.  Please get the care you need.
