Usually patients seek treatment 3-6 months after surgery to improve surgical scars. Usually a combination approach is needed to give improvement with lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. Thank you for your question! I advise you to wait at least 6 months to allow your scar can heal as much as it can heal by itself. Depending on your scar, but in majority cases combination of treatments yields best results, starting off with laser. Thanks for the great questions. As scars are healing, they naturally turn more red from  months 1-3. They should then begin to fade after about 3 months. Because of that, I typically won't treat scars for 6 months after surgery. Often times the redness goes away on its own. What you don't want to do is to treat the scar too early and cause hyperpigentation. Best of luck!~Dr. Sieber
