I advise you to wait at least 6 months to allow your scar to heal as much as it can heal by itself. In majority of cases combination of treatments yields best results. You can start off with laser. I would advise you to seek for a provider with experience in scar removal to address this issue. Good luck!
Thanks for the great questions. As scars are healing, they naturally turn more red from months 1-3. They should then begin to fade after about 3 months. Because of that, I typically won't treat scars for 6 months after surgery. Often times the redness goes away on its own. What you don't want to do is to treat the scar too early and cause hyperpigentation. Best of luck!~Dr. Sieber
