Is there treatment for thickened upper lip and chronic numbness 1 year after my lip lift?

Question

1 yr ago I underwent a bullhorn lip lift with a muscle plication. 6mm was removed . From the vermillion border to the base of the nares is significantly thickened. It is convex rather than concave. It is also extremely numb. The surgeon has repeatedly injected 5FU and steroids into the incision. No improvement. 1. What caused this? 2. Is there a treatment? 3. Will this get better? Thank you for any advice.

this is often the look of lip lifts after they heal and scarring can occur from "frank bad luck" and often have nothing to do with the procedure.  lasers like vbeam, excel v combine with fraxel or halo versus co2 or profractional can be used. I would suggest daily treatments with growth factors like anteage md + accelerator, a really strong retinol like vivatia or cosmelan 2, and silicone gel to soften the scar (see link t o emeragecosmetics.com for products and where we do free skincare consults daily).
there are many options for hypertrophic scars:
1. vascular lasers (yellow laser, vbeam, excel v)
2. fractional lasers (fraxel, erbium, co2)
3. microneedling/PRP
4. silicone based scar gels with growth factors
5. excision
