While biotin is touted all over the internet for hair loss, there is no evidence that many people in the USA are deficient in biotin; therefore it is unlikely to help. Many people are deficient in Vitamin D and that is associated with hair loss.
There is no clinical studies to prove that one brand of Biotin is better than another. Among my patients, some prefer the meltaway tablets, some like the gummy version Biotin and others prefer the regular tablets. Biotin is often packaged with other B vitamins, zinc, copper, or other supplements in "Hair, Skin, & Nail" vitamins. These are also fine.
Biotin has little if any role if hair loss for most people. However, the following groups may be more likely to have biotin deficiency: if one has intestinal issues, is pregnant, takes anti-seizure medications, chronic antibiotics, isotretinoin use, chronic alcohol intake, inborn errors of metabolism, and older age.In those who are recommended to take biotin, type of biotin supplement does not appear to matter. 1000 mcg twice daily to up to 5000 mcg is appropriate dosing for most.
Why do you think that biotin work well for your hair problem ?You may need to have a full exam with an hair surgeon, internalist and/or endocrinologist to find out any reason for hair loss.It is better to see your photos at least in order to understand the problem you have, and provide suitable treatment methods .
I would suggest that you see a doctor and find out what is going on with your hair loss. There must be something else going on

No. An 18 hour fast will not cause hair loss. Theoretically a long fast might deplete essential vitamins but taking a daily vitamin pill would eliminate that risk,
