Hi, I’ve been looking into getting treatment for my facial redness that covers my entire face but I’ve ran into some issues concerning my facial hair( I’m male). The first two treatments I heard about were IPL and VBeam but after reading up on IPL it seems there is no way for me to get it without it damaging my facial hair, I also read a lot of other things saying other light and laser therapy can also damage the hair follicle. So my question is will VBeam damage my facial hair?

I have never found that numbing was necessary prior to performing a Vbeam laser treatment on a patient. There is normally a coolant which is delivered to the skin just prior to the laser reaching the skin, and this helps with any discomfort. I also normally do not perform a spot test on patients.
I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. For rosacea, I like a combination approach, using lasers (ProYellow, Pulsed Dye/Vbeam, Excel V, BBL, Pico), peels and botox to the cheeks. This makes dramatic changes in color and symptoms. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
