I have bad under eye bags that bother me and I'm interested in tear trough filler. I am concerned that the filler will dampen facial expressions or be easy to notice when I smile. Also, what happens when the filler dissipates? Any negative long term effects? Finally, I use heating pads for my eyes for dry eye. Will the heat disrupt the filler? Please help!

Answer: Filler /facial expressions Fillers in the tear trough area should not affect your facial expressions. When done well. it will enhance your look and make you look less tired. Firstly, you need to see an oculopalstic surgeon to see if that is indeed the treatment you need. You may need surgery for your undereye bags, or you may need fillers.

Answer: Tear trough filler Tear trough filler can lessen the appearance of eye bags and properly done will not dampen facial expressions or look awkward when you smile. Hyaluronic acid filler will naturally break down over time, just like your body's own natural hyaluronic acid. In the under eye area, hyaluronic acid filler can last several years, so make sure you choose a provider experienced in treating this area. Use of heating pads on the eyes may cause the filler to break down quicker. Hope this helps. Best, Dr. Tkatch
