so I found a dr who agreed to do large volume laser lipo, and she wants to break the procedure up into 3 days, so for example on day 1 she wants to take out 5Ls of fat out of the abdomen and sides, then on day 2 5Ls out of my back then day 3 as much as she can out of the arms, I would like to know your professional opinions on using laser lipo for large volume fat removal and should a drain be used ? Thank you for taking the time out to answer these questions
Answer: What is your opinion on performing large volume laser lipo and performing it outside of he hospital? Sounds very dangerous and not in the Florida Board of Medicine office surgery guidelines and rules! Specifically rule 64B8-9.009..Plus the logic seems very faulty. Is this doctor even a boarded Plastic Surgeon? Please be very careful because removing that amount of liters even in 3 separate days has major internal fluid shifts and the metabolism/equilibrium of your internal environment could be at risk leading to major complications and untold risks to yourself. Why are NO boarded PSs doing large volume liposuction out of hospitals? Obviously there is a reason.

Answer: 3 large volume liposuctions in 3 days? Hi and welcome to our forum! Liposuction is an invasive procedure. It involves infusion of large volumes of fluids and significant blood loss. In the US, each state has placed limits on the amount of liposuction allowed in one procedure. Here in Florida, for example, 4000 cc of supernatant fat is the maximum allowed on an outpatient basis, as higher volume aspiration has resulted in significant potential life threatening complications unless close monitoring on an inpatient basis is performed. Following the procedure, your body must adjust to these changes and also undergo healing, which consumes significant amounts of energy resources. Performing 3 surgeries in 3 consecutive days is an extremely dangerous undertaking and is not recommended under any circumstances. You must recover from each of these procedures before proceeding to the next! In addition, liposuction is designed as a reshaping procedure and is NOT a weight loss procedure. A bariatric procedure, such as a gastric sleeve, will allow for more effective and much safer weight loss. Best wishes...

Answer: Large Volume Liposuction Safety First, liposuction is not a weight loss method. Greater than 10 liters of fat aspiration is more than anyone should ever consider unless in a very organized program that does this routinely. Instead of liposuction, you need weight loss and then some procedure to fix any remaining cosmetic problem. Secondly, you need to run away from whatever physician suggested this as fast as you can. What has been proposed for just one day is considered by most experts to be "large volume liposuction" and would require an overnight stay for your safety. Additionally, you did not say whether the facility "outside the hospital" is fully accredited or not. From the information you have given, I would assume not, another significant red flag. Liposuction has one of the highest death rate of any cosmetic procedure. It is because many non surgeon physicians who do liposuction are willing to do procedures like suggested for you.

Answer: Large volume outpatient Liposuction Dear Miami,Wonderful question!Yes, large volume Liposuction, 4-5L, can be done safely in one outpatient procedure. Stacked days is not advisable though, since the prior days anesthesia won’t be out off your system, and the body should recoup a bit first. Best to wait at least a week between each procedure.Dr Brecht Seattle, Wa
