So sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your PDO thread lift.
I’ve read my colleagues’ answers and in general, I agree. However, I want to help clarify something for you. 
A “mass” 4 weeks after insertion is not necessarily an “abscess” which implies an infection.   However removal and possibly antibiotics is usually sufficient to relieve the swelling. Every day should get better.
You’ve done the right thing and returned to your treating surgeon. If you still aren’t feeling better with the threads removed you should seek a second opinion of a cosmetic surgeon experienced in threads. 

Agree with my colleague Dr Khoobehi, but even more adverse to any threading (PDO/Silhoutte). I have only seen short term improvements with moderate complications as described here. You need immediate removal under local anesthesia by boarded PS or facial PS. Guess lesson learned is the cheap short cut way is usually the more unhappy way. 

I am sorry that your experience with threadlift was less than your expectations. Your have thick skin and threads will not help. Please see your local board certified plastic surgeon.

If an infection develops following a theadlift and leads to abscess development, it’s best to remove the threads completely (as your doctor did) and treat the infection with a course of antibiotics. If the thread is left insitu, the infection would likely persist and cause more scarring. 
Subsequently you should give time for the infection and swelling to subside and wait till healing is complete before doing any further procedures. 
You may consider threadlift again but I would suggest trying to find out what triggered the initial infection and take measures to avoid it. Another option to consider for skin tightening or lifting is Ultherapy or High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) which is noninvasive and has no risk of infection.

My suggestion is to visit another Dr with experience in PDO thread. You must rule out infection or superficially laid threads. If an infection is present then removal and antibiotic will be required. If the thread is superficial then it will be a joint decision of what to do with it , how much it is bothering you ... hope this helps.
