Generally, patients can start taking baths again once the incisions have healed. This normally takes around 4 to 6 weeks. It’s safe to shower relatively early in the recuperation process, but submerging your incisions in a bathtub or pool should be avoided for at least a month.
This is something you should discuss with your surgeon. For my patients, I want them to wait 24 hours after their drains have been removed. Good luck.
Each surgeon has his or her postoperative guidelines. Typically, you can wash yourself after 24 hours as long as you do get the suture areas wet. A fully submerged bath may need to wait for a couple of weeks. Consult your surgeon as he/she knows the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you.
Hello and thank you for your question,It is best to give your incisions adequate time to heal before submerging them in water. This is typically at least 3 weeks or 1 week after the sutures have been removed. If there appears to be any slow healing its best to keep the incisions out of the water until things are healed. It is always best to check with your surgeons recommendation before doing anything.
I do not allow patients to take a bath after surgery. Showering is ok usually a few days after surgery but some will wait until the drains are removed.
Alerts best to only follow your operate surgeon's instructions. In my practice I allow bathing within 24 hours following surgery, BUT that is in my patients..
