Can any of these areas be suctioned from the same entrance point? Looking to have as few scars as possible. Concerned about outer thigh and love handles being visible in a skimpy bikini (Living in Miami). Doctor says he will try to hid the scars but cant tell me exact placement of each.
Answer: Liposuction scars Scarring is a concern for both patients and plastic surgeons. When it comes to liposuction, the incisions are very small and placed in discrete areas. There are generally no “standard” incision locations for liposuction. The most uniform fat removal is generally accomplished by suctioning from different angles. This will sometimes necessitate more than one access incision for a particular area. Sometimes the same incision can be used for different areas, and plastic surgeons will take this into account when planning incision locations. Your surgeon should be able to show you where he or she is planning on making incisions at the time of your surgical markings. I will often have patients were undergarments or swimsuits to facilitate placing the markings in discreet locations. Regardless of where they are, the small incisions typically heal so well that they are difficult to see. It is much more important that the fat removal is done properly. Patients don’t really complain about the liposuction incisions, but will not be happy if the fat removal is not done adequately. Best wishes.

Answer: Placement of liposuction scars We are talking about scars that are in average 1cm. once they mature! We always place these scars in the creases and hidden spots to avoid being visible with any style of underwear. However, surgeon must place sufficient number of incision in selected places to have good access and control of liposuction. In person consultation is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Liposuction Using high definition VASER liposuction, scars are minimal and essentially not visible. The Gold Standard for superior liposuction results requires use of the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I perform full body liposuction cases every week. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently resulted in outstanding liposuction outcomes. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of degree of excess fat by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. If skin redundancy is observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Liposuction scars There are no standards of where incisions are made when it comes to Liposuction. Plastic surgeons make them wherever they feel appropriate based on their own judgment, training and experience. In regards to scars from Liposuction there are perhaps three variables that should be taken into consideration. Complexion of the patient. Patients with fair skin or a history of minimally visible scars when mature shouldn’t need to worry about these very much especially if the surgeon puts them in favorable places. Patients who have a history of forming keloid type scars or highly pigmented scars may want to consider not having Liposuction because of how bad the Scars can look. Next is the instrument used to make the incision or the form of Liposuction being done. The use a VASER requires a protective skin device which leaves incisions many times larger than other forms of Liposuction. Likewise, incisions made with scalpels have a very surgical appearance. Personally I use a 2 mm skin biopsy tool which leaves a small circular scar that looks more like a skin blemish or a pale mole than a surgical incision. Finally is the art of placing scars in aesthetically acceptable places while still being able to get the job done. Significantly minimizing scars or placing them in the most desirable areas for the patient can significantly interfere with the ability to get the job done correctly which is a self-defeating concept. Minimizing incisions or placing incisions to a point of compromising Liposuction results as foolish. No surgeon desires to leave visible scars on their patients. Our job is to make patients look good and we prefer to come across as magicians doing this with zero scars if possible. I suggest you focus on finding the most experienced and talanted plastic surgeon for liposuction in your area and then let the driver do the driving. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
