Juvederm didn't help with nasolabial folds/smile lines. What now? (Photos)

Thank you for your question. I'm not sure how much time has transpired since your injections. You may need to wait longer to see optimal results. The other possibility is that you need more product. I would suggest following up with your injector.

Hello and thank you for your question and pictures.Since it is unaware when you received your injections, patients tend to see their final results after two weeks from the injections. If you are still unhappy with your results, I suggest making a follow up appointment with your injector to get your desired look. You can also consult with them about having the filler reveres with hyaluronidase. Best of luck!

I'm not sure when you had your injections, but it can take up to 2 weeks for final results. If you're unhappy with final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase. Hope this helps.

A combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend fillers for the folds themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, rf treatments, J Plasma and peels to get the most conservative natural look. Please see a facial sculpting expert. Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  It is difficult without knowing your goals and "before" image how Juvederm worked within your tissues.  Typically if patients do not see an effect it is the result of insufficient material, most patients requiring at least a full 1cc syringe per side.  I would revisit your surgeon for an in-person examination to discuss your current outcome and ways to maximize it. Thank you for sharing. Optimal results are seen after 2 weeks of your injection. Some patients can require up to 2 syringes to properly treat their nasolabial folds. Dear ly8819:I think you are referring to the mild lines to the side of the corners of your mouth. These need to be filled very superficially, in the dermis itself, with a filler like Belotero or blended Restylane. See the photos in the link below.All the best,   Dr. Clark

It is hard to see the results based on the photos that you have provided, however keep in mind that with the nasal folds it can take anywhere from 1 to 3 syringes to see an improvement.  Results will depend on how deep your folds are and the product that is used to address the folds, in our practice we do like to use Juvederm Ultra Plus for deep folds.  Another way to decrease the nasal fold lines are to address the cheek area with dermal filler, and this does improve the nasal fold indirectly.  I would recommend that you go back to your injector and address your concerns.

You appear to have NL animated superficial folds. HA fillers usual improve BUT never totally eliminate these animated folds in facial expression. I recited 2 syringes of VolBella (a Juvederm product). As to expensive, The average fee for HA filler syringe is between $500 to $900 per. If that is expensive to you than you might have been under treated in needed/required volumes.
