Thanks for your questions. Usually I don't use a drains after liposuction but some patients needs those if they have a lot of fat in the abdominal area. Please make sure to contact a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Best of luck:)
Thank you for your question I personally do not use drains for liposuction, but every surgeon has different protocols. Consult with a board certified PS best of luck.
Hey thereGenerally most surgeons do not place drains after liposuction. That being said, some surgeons leave their incisions open to encourage drainage and some surgeons close these sites with sutures. Occasionally some surgeons will place a small drain or piece of plastic to assist drainage if they do a signifigant amount of liposuction and really empty all fat from the sacral area on the lower back which occasionally can develop a fluid collection and require needle aspiration. Every surgeon has their own method of doing procedures and if you’re going to a reputable board certified plastic surgeon and like their results I think any of the above is very reasonable. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. No, you do not need a drain after liposuction and fat transfer. Good luck with surgery.Sincerely, Olga Bachilo, MD
Some surgeons use a drain in Lightbow suction sites if they are extensively emptied. This can help to prevent fluid collections. Other surgeons leave the incisions open to drain. I would follow the recommendations of the surgeon you have chosen.
Hello,Thank you for your question. I don't use drains after liposuction or fat transfer. Drains are used at the discretion of the surgeon and typically for cases like abdominoplasty and breast reduction. In these types of cases there is wide separation or undermining of tissues at different planes, and tissue fluid can accumulate in those spaces after surgery. Drains are placed to allow tissue fluid an exit from the body during the first few days to few weeks post-op. In cases like liposuction there is no undermining per se. Therefore, there isn't the need for drains. Best of luck!
I do not routinely use a drain after liposuction or a BBL. Some surgeons do. You are best to review this with your surgeon.
in my practice it would be unusual to use a drain after liposuction. Actually, we've never done that. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon please
Thank you for your question. Usually I do not put drain after liposuction. It is depending on the surgeon. Please talk to your PS
Drains are never needed after routine liposuction and or fat grafting, However, if there is excessive bleeding, a drain might be necessary.

In most cases, liposuction of the flanks can be performed with the patient lying on their stomach and placing incisions on the back only. This is especially true in thinner women. If the patient was heavier and had more excess fat on the front additional incisions on the front may have to be...
