It's been a month since my buccal fat removal. And I appreciate the response I got from doc Mesa re the concern I have and he was right I started working out a week after my surgery. Thats why my face seemed to be back to its normal size. Should I stop working out now cause of that? but its been a month now. I'll still wait for my face to look better in 2 months hopefully. There still is a change in my face but not that much. What procedure should I have if my cheeks look fat when i smile?

After buccal fat removal patients may experience post surgical swelling for few weeks up to months. Therefore at 1 months post operative, it very unlikely to see the results from buccal fat removal..The final results of buccal fat removal are usually seeing after 12 weeks or 3 months post surgery. Therefore patients should wait to complete their healing process to asses the final result of the buccal fat removal procedure.

Treatment of ‘chubby cheeks’ cannot be achieved alone with buccal fat pad removal; a fact that I encounter time and time again when seeing patients in consultation for lower facial sculpting. My approach is to use a combined protocol that redefines aesthetic contours of the face. This includes the following:

The combined approach is ideal. Buccal fat pad removal is a exceptional procedure that can remove excess fat from the cheek pads. Using an intraoral approach, a small incision is carried through the mucosa to remove a small fat pad within the cheek. Closure of the incisions is minimal with an absorbable suture and patients will experience some swelling post-operatively. We use SwellX tablets post treatment. Once healed, the contour of the cheek is improved and we begin Non-invasive tissue tightening to further enhance results.

It can take time to get a full reduction in the facial fullness. I'd recommend waiting. Soft tissue swelling can be expected if you work out or push the limits even after a couple of weeks. The results will slowly but surely (if it was done well) come into place over the next several weeks. Hope this helps and God Bless!Dr. Robb Jr.
