Breast implants causing hair loss?

Question

I've had saline implants for about 8 yrs. for the last year my scalp has been burning and my hair has been thinning. I'm wondering if I should consider the possibility or hair loss being related to my implants and some type of toxicity reaction? How could I find out?

There is no reason to suspect an association with the implants and hair loss.  However the differential diagnosis of hair loss is very long.  Go see your PCP so you can have a proper work up.

Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of your hair loss.  After only now developing symptoms after implantation 8 years ago, it is unlikely that your implants have caused any toxicity reaction in your body.  I would recommend seeing a dermatologist to discuss possible causes for your hair loss and to receive treatment recommendations.  Best wishes.

Thank you for your question.It is highly, highly unlikely that your breast implants are causing your hair loss.  There are many reasons for hair loss that are far more common, so that fact that you have implants is just a coincidence.  I recommend visiting with your plastic surgeon, or a dermatologist, to discuss what may be going on.  Best of luck!

Well, if you have had your implants for 8 years and have just started having a problem during the last year, I doubt very seriously it is related to you implants. You could schedule an appointment with you primary care physician to see if he/she could determine a reason for your hair loss.
