5 weeks ago I had an earlobe reduction. I am happy with the overall shape of them but I am quite unhappy with the fact that the sections that were cut and sewn together do not line up properly. I feel this makes it obvious that I have had surgery and I am more conscious of this now than I was on my very large earlobes. Will I need more surgery or is it too soon to say?

Answer: Significant earlobe notching is best treated by revision surgery Your photos demonstrate notching of the earlobe repair sites. This is best prevented by placing at least one deep soft tissue suture prior to placing skin sutures. Deep sutures prevent the skin edges from pulling away from each other during wound healing.Notching of the earlobe repairs is frequently quite mild. If yours bothers you sufficiently, you may undergo revisionary surgery, which will entail removal of the scar edges and re-suturing (using both deep soft tissue and skin sutures).

Answer: Earlobe notching You're describing notching, a common complication of earlobe reduction or repair; your photos show this as well. While notching can sometimes be improved with a drop of filler, it will likely need surgical revision (redoing the incision or shaving down the outer earlobe border). I recommend following up with your surgeon; most of the swelling should be resolved 2 months after treatment, and if things aren't significantly improved at this time, undertaking a small revision would be reasonable. Good luck!
